The Gifts of Imperfection: Let Go of Who You Think You're Supposed to Be and Embrace Who You Are.
By Dr. Brené Brown.
Years ago, my therapist recommended that I read this book. I have since bought multiple copies and given it to pretty much everyone I know.
I always warn people when they start to read this book to read it SLOWLY. This is not a book that you read in a weekend. Read one chapter at a time and let it sit for at least a week or two before you start reading the next chapter.
I cannot emphasize enough how much this book changed my life. I cried when I finished this book because I didn’t want it to end (yes, I have reread it several times). It taught me how to practice self-compassion and how to be my authentic self.
This book is a game changer. You are welcome!
Full disclosure: I am on a full-time mission to help busy people invest in their emotional wellbeing. This means that I use affiliate links to generate income. I wish I could say this was paying for trips around the world, but not quite yet. You would see on my social media accounts if I started posting from my own private island. The good news is, there would have to be a Secondhand Therapy private island retreat if that happens. For now, thanks for keeping me in business by purchasing (and referring friends) through these links!
