Years ago, my therapist recommended that I read this book.  I have since bought multiple copies and given it to pretty much everyone I know.

I always warn people when they start to read this book to read it SLOWLY.  This is not a book that you read in a weekend.  Read one chapter at a time and let it sit for at least a week or two before you start reading the next chapter.

I cannot emphasize enough how much this book changed my life.  I cried when I finished this book because I didn’t want it to end (yes, I have reread it several times).  It taught me how to practice self-compassion and how to be my authentic self.
